Sponsor Responsibilities

Click to complete a sponsor form:

Select a guest / sleeper who wishes to strengthen their spiritual life; who wants to have a better understanding of prayer, the sacraments, Christian study and action; who strives to live a Christian life that bears fruit for God; or who seeks to know Jesus as Lord and Savior and to make Him known. Do not sponsor someone struggling with addictions or emotional / psychological problems. This is not a rehabilitation facility.

Be intentional about talking to the prospective guest / sleeper about the weekend. Make a specific date (or at least be intentional) to explain all about the weekend. Answer all their questions. If the person is married, talk to both husband and wife and get commitments from both. Tell the story about the weekend by letting them know what happened to you at your weekend. Tell them how meaningful the talks, chapel visits, or worship services were. We only ask that you do not share about the agape acts and special services.

Explain to them the importance of the follow-up meeting (4th Day), reunion groups, and community gatherings.

You are responsible for agape letters for your guest / sleeper. Ask their spouse, children, parents, and/or siblings to write agape letters as well as other friends and even church members.  Family letters should be marked with an "F" in the upper right-hand corner so they may be opened first. Special Note: All letters should be delivered to the Agape Team no later than Saturday night at the Community candlelight service.  Gifts are not accepted for guests / sleepers or team members during the weekends.  Gifts are better if they are given before the weekend or following the 4th Day event.

When you get a letter confirming your guest / sleeper, call them immediately and share your joy. When speaking with your guest / sleeper, be sure they call as directed in their letter to confirm their participation.  If for any reason, your guest / sleeper cannot attend, call the Community Lay Director immediately. Should there be a waiting list of people wanting to attend; the sooner cancellation notifications are made, the sooner another person can be accepted.

Keep in touch with your guest / sleeper until you bring him/her to Send-off. If, for any reason, the guest / sleeper changes their mind about attending, please call the Community Lay Director immediately.

Make plans to bring your guest / sleeper to Send-off and be prepared to stay for Sponsor's Hour which is held immediately following Send-off. This is a time when guest / sleepers and team members are prayed for by name, and you can pray and sacrifice for your guest / sleeper.

Come to the Candlelight and Closing services, and celebrate the weekend with your guest / sleeper. Make plans to take your guest / sleeper home after the Closing service.

Bring your guest / sleeper to the follow-up (4th Day) meeting following their weekend. The date and time of 4th Day will be in the information packet given after the last talk. The purpose of the 4th Day meeting is to explain and facilitate reunion groups.

Make sure your guest / sleeper gets into a reunion group. Invite them to your reunion group so they may have a reunion group experience, and then invite them to join your group or encourage them to find one that is comfortable for them.

Continue to encourage your guest / sleeper to be a Christian witness in their family, church, school, office, and wherever they go. Be their supporter so Christ is shared with the world.
